Hi, I'm Alex

Alex Vincent Blumberg is an award-winning screenwriter, documentary filmmaker, and podcast producer. In 2025, Alex was named one of the “Top 25 Screenwriters to Watch” by the International Screenwriters’ Association.

His nonfiction work includes writing narration for Oscar winners Meryl Streep (Escape From Extinction: Rewilding) and Helen Mirren (Escape From Extinction) in documentary features about endangered species and ecological recovery. Escape From Extinction won the 2020 Doc LA award for Best Environmental Film, and is now streaming on PeacockEscape From Extinction: Rewilding released in 2024 in over 100 theaters, earning a 93% critics' approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.​ The film was screened for the U.S. Congress, along with the British and European Union parliaments.

Alex's historical fiction podcast Back Fires was released in June 2024 on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and all major audio platforms. Adapted from his award-winning screenplay, Back Fires reached thousands of listeners across 50 different countries, appearing on the Apple Podcasts Fiction and Drama charts in the US, Canada, India, and South Africa.


Before moving to Los Angeles, Alex was based in Prague and worked as a video journalist for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, which reports the news in 23 countries where a free press is banned by the state or not fully established. While on staff at RFE/RL, he directed the award-winning TV documentary Generation Emigration, chronicling youth migration from the former Soviet republic of Moldova.
